A UK-based additive manufacturing bureau built on one principle: if you need a part that works, you need an engineer who understands both the material and the machine.
When engineers and product teams need a 3D printed part that actually performs, the market forces them into one of two corners. Pay a large bureau premium and wait weeks. Or buy a desktop machine and accept the compromises that come with it. Neither option is good enough.
3D TACT exists to fill that gap. We offer genuine industrial capability: the same machines, materials, and quality processes the large bureaux run, but without the overheads that inflate their pricing and the bureaucracy that slows their quoting. We respond in hours, not days. We take orders of one. And every job is reviewed by an engineer, not processed through an automated portal and forgotten.
We're based in London with the capability to ship anywhere. Our founder holds a PhD in additive manufacturing and has spent years in both academic research and commercial AM production. That combination of deep materials knowledge and real production experience is what makes us different from a print farm with a website.
Dr Asif Ur Rehman is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of 3D
Tact Ltd, a UK-based advanced manufacturing company focused on
additive manufacturing, artificial intelligence, digital
production systems and customised product development. The company
was established with a clear focus on translating research-led
engineering into scalable, commercially viable technologies that
improve efficiency, sustainability and accessibility in modern
manufacturing.
With over a decade of international experience across industry,
certification, research and academia, Dr Rehman has worked across
the full innovation lifecycle, from early-stage research through
to industrial deployment. His career spans projects in the United
Kingdom, France, Italy, Turkey and China, with a strong focus on
bridging engineering research with real-world manufacturing
applications.
Before founding 3D Tact Ltd, he served as Certification Manager at
BSI, where he led the development of additive manufacturing
certification and qualification frameworks supporting quality,
sustainability and industrial adoption. Prior to this, he worked
as R&D Manager and Project Lead at ERMAKSAN Additive, leading the
development of next-generation metal additive manufacturing
systems, covering machine development, process optimisation,
materials engineering, computational modelling, intellectual
property and technology transfer.
In research and academia, Dr Rehman served as a Research Fellow at
University College London, contributing to the development of
certification approaches for sustainable and low-carbon additive
manufacturing. He also held a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Postdoctoral
Fellowship through a joint project at CY Cergy Paris Université in
collaboration with the University of Warwick and TU Dresden,
focusing on sustainable additive manufacturing processes. His
doctoral research, completed under a Marie Skłodowska-Curie
Industrial PhD programme, centred on additive manufacturing,
following earlier academic and research roles in Italy and China.
He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications and filed
multiple patents in additive manufacturing technologies. His work
has contributed to international discussions on standards,
sustainability and the industrialisation of additive
manufacturing, with ongoing involvement in ISO/TC 261 and ASTM F42
working groups. He is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the BSI
National Standards Body Committee AMT/8 on Additive Manufacturing.
At 3D Tact Ltd, his focus is on developing integrated
manufacturing solutions that combine engineering design,
intelligent software and advanced production technologies. His
long-term direction is to establish 3D Tact Ltd as a recognised
player in next-generation manufacturing.
Not corporate values pulled from a template. These are the decisions we make every day, even when nobody's watching.
Every part is dimensionally checked against your drawing before it leaves our facility. We don't ship on assumption.
We hit fast turnarounds by running efficient processes, not by cutting corners. If we quote 48 hours, we mean 48 hours with full inspection.
Our quotes show exact costs, exact lead times, and exact material grades. No "price on application," no ranges so wide they're meaningless.
We ask what the part does, where it goes, and what loads it sees, because the right answer depends on context, not just geometry.
Our team doesn't just print in PEEK. We understand its crystallinity, its annealing behaviour, and why it matters for your application.
Additive manufacturing already uses less material than subtractive methods. We go further: optimising orientation, nesting builds, and recommending the right process to minimise scrap.
Send us your files, your specs, or even just your problem. We'll respond within 24 hours with a clear path forward.
